Emergency Services
Winston Medical Center has a six-bed emergency room and two-bed trauma rooms. Winston Medical Center employs a full-time emergency room physician who is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, and Pediatric Life Support certified. The highly trained physicians are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Winston Medical Center Emergency Department staffs full and part-time Registered Nurses who are all Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum certified.
The Emergency Department provides for the immediate needs of patients that require emergency medical care. Winston Medical Center has access to major trauma centers in our state and has a helipad area near-site for emergency transfers if needed.
Winston Medical Center is designated as a Level IV Trauma Center in the Mississippi Department of Health Trauma Network.
The Emergency Department does not require an appointment. Patients are admitted through the admission area located via the emergency entrance. Patients are also admitted to the Emergency Department via Ambulance. Patients are admitted based on complaint or injury status. Those patients with the most serious problems are seen first, others are seen first come, first served.
