Respiratory Department
Our Respiratory Therapy Department is staffed by Registered Respiratory Therapists and, under the direction of a physician, treats respiratory illnesses such as Asthma, Emphysema, COPD, Chronic Bronchitis, and Pneumonia as well as many other respiratory ailments. The Department is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Department’s scope of care includes, but is not limited to:
- Respiratory and oxygen therapy
- Airway management and resuscitation
- Diagnostic testing and monitoring
- Mechanical Ventilation
- EEG Services
- Pulmonary Rehabilitation
- Education and learning opportunities
Outpatient services
In addition to caring for hospitalized patients, the Respiratory Care department conducts diagnostic testing, care and treatment for outpatients who are referred to Winston Medical Center by their physician.
Patients may visit the Winston Medical Center Respiratory Department when their doctor orders a pulmonary function test (PFT), Electroencephalography (EEG), Holter monitors, Electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG), Arterial Blood Gases (ABG). EEG is interpreted by a Board Certified Neurologist.
