The Mississippi Hospital Association recognizes WMC for its dedication to providing accessible health care to the people of Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Miss. (June 19, 2017) — Winston Medical Center has received the 2017 Outstanding Mississippi Small Rural Hospital Award from the Mississippi Hospital Association.
“For almost 60 years, Winston Medical Center has made tremendous strides in advancing rural health care in Louisville and Mississippi,” said Timothy Moore, President and CEO of MHA. “The resilience and commitment to community Winston Medical Center and its employees have shown following the 2014 tornado makes us especially proud to call them this year’s winner.”
Each year, MHA’s Outstanding Mississippi Small Rural Hospital Award recognizes a rural hospital in the state with less than 100 beds that has improved access to health care or has launched innovative programs in their communities. Three criteria are considered:
- What has the hospital done to contribute to rural health in ways that go above and beyond?
- How have they demonstrated leadership and vision for rural health?
- What impact have their efforts had on rural health in their community?
“We’re so proud of this honor and can’t thank our employees and community enough. Over the past three years, Winston Medical Center has been through circumstances that most hospitals and employees never have to endure,” said Paul Black, Winston Medical Center CEO. “During the rebuilding effort, Winston Medical Center continued to provide outstanding patient care, while keeping almost all services. We are excited to receive this award and look forward to our future.”
A congratulatory video was created to recognize all of the staff at the hospital for their hard work. A community celebration is tentatively planned for July 21, 2017. Details will be provided closer to the event.
