Winston Medical Center is sponsoring a community health fair on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The health fair will be held at the campus of Winston Medical Center located at 923 S Church Avenue.
There are over 35 vendors signed up to come and promote healthcare services that are offerred to the community. Winston Medical Center will be providing labortaory screenings at no charge. Individuals are reminded to get the best results you do not need to eat or drink anything past midnight. There will be other free health screenings and assessments offered to anyone attending.
In addition to the health fair, the Mississippi Blood Services will be attending to do a local blood drive. There is a demand for blood in our community. Please take this opportunity to donate blood. It is a wonderful gift to those in need from all walks of life, as there is no substitute for human blood; donors are the only source. Every two seconds, someone needs blood, and the demand for blood continues to increase, but only five percent of the population donates. An adequate supply is crucial to the survival of cancer patients, accident victims, children with blood disorders, and many others. Your donation helps to save and enhance the lives of these people, as just one pint of your blood can save as many as four lives. You may schedule an appointment by calling 662-779-5111 but walk-ins are also welcomed. Please bring ID with you when you come to donate.
Flu shots will be available for $15 but if you are a Medicare receipiant you are asked to bring your Medicare card with you.
The local banks, Citizen’s Bank, Renasant Bank and Bancorp South will be on site providing hotdogs and drinks to attendees.
Door prizes and giveaways are planned.
For more information on attending or participating as an exhibitor, contact Brandi Krajewski, Marketing/PR Director at 662-779-5111.
