Medicare will pay for short term for skilled care which means that the resident had a 3 day qualifying hospital stay and has a skilled need such as physical, occupational, speech therapy or skilled nursing to provide wound care.
Medicare is health insurance for people over the age of 65, long-term care is a type of medical care that many people may need at some point in their lives. However, Medicare does not pay for long-term care but will pay for beneficiaries who require skilled nursing or rehabilitative services up to 100 days, for which that resident qualifies to receive skilled care.
