Winston Medical Center Laboratory services will be providing glucose and lipid screenings at the Health Fair tomorrow! It is important that individuals do not eat or drink after midnight.
This simple blood test could alert and individual if they have an elevated risk for diabetes before serious symptoms and signs of diabetes begin. The purpose of this screening is to serve as an early alert, hopefully cutting down on the damage done by type 2 diabetes by uncovering it and addressing it early before you have any complications of high blood sugar. More than 29 million Americans have diabetes and another 86 million are at risk for the disease so a early diagnosis is more important than ever.
They will also be providing LIPID screenings. Screening for the lipid disorders is done with a blood test that checks the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. It is highly recommended that adults aged 40 years or order who have any risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure or who smoke get the screening. The benefit of the lipid screening is decreasing the chance of developing symptomatic Cardio Vascular Disease or having a heart attack or stroke in the future.
Come join us tomorrow, October 2, 2018 at the Winston Medical Center Health Fair! We will be opening the doors at 9:00 a.m. and the event will conclude at 12:00 p.m.
