IThe demolition of the existing Winston Medical Center structure
that was severely damaged in the April 28, 2014 tornado should begin within a week according to WMC Chief Executive Officer Paul Black.
Black was on the agenda for the Winston County Supervisors on Monday and informed the Board that bids had been received on the demolition package to remove the existing structure (s) and that the hospital board would be meeting on Monday evening to discuss and choose a bidder to complete the project.
Black indicated that unless there are unforseen delays, actual work should start by June 22. He noted that one of the first actions would be the removal of asbetos.
The removal of the structure will be the first step in the construction process of a new hospital facility, clinic and nursing home.
